Log # 3 Personal Connection

The main character of this book, who’s name is Santiago, has very similar personality and dream with me. Santiago chose to be a shepherd when he could be a priest. Priest is more respected, honored job than shepherd. But Santiago chose to be a shepherd, because he wanted to travel the world and meet other people around the world. Similar to his decision he made, one of my dream is to travel around the world with my future wife when I get older. I love meeting many different groups of people and I want to taste several kinds of foods around the world. Experiencing many different cultures will be very exciting. Also I see many similarities between Santiago and me. And because he is similar to me, I am enjoying the reading and I’m wondering what is going to happen to Santiago.

log # 2 good Introduction

This book has such a wonderful introduction, introduction of this book tells us about who the characters are. Introduction has a good hooker, a mysterious dream. I kept wondering what the dream means and it keeps me to concentrate to read this book. Also this book's introduction has lots of details and it helped me visualizing what is happening in the story. The mysteriousness totally hooked me up to read this book. Introduction usually determines how the reader will enjoy the book, and this book did very good job doing that.

Joseph's opinion about Alchemist before reading

The book alchemist seems very interesting. Cover of this book is very attractive, and makes readers to wonder what will happen in the story. I can see a shepherd who looks like a main character of this book, and a mysterious one-eyed person on the cover. By only looking at the cover, I can infer that this story is about a shepherd who wants to be a alchemist, a migical scientist. He will meet lots of people, and probably the background is Egypt because i see lots of Pyramids in the cover. On the back of the book, there are people's comment about this book. "A magical little volume" - San Francisco Chronicle I could infer that this book will be about some magical, mysterious fantasy. And this should be a great book! My friend also recommended this book, I love reading these kind of fantasy books, and I can hardly wait to read this book.
