I think the writer must be a deep-thinking person. Paulo Coelho’s writing has very deep meaning; every word he wrote in this book has meaning. The topic of this book, a dream, is very confusing thing to describe and he did very nice job on showing the deep meaning of the dream. Every word he wrote made me wonder about what dream is. Why do people give up their dream? The crystal merchant, and baker had dream but they stopped working for their dream, because they were afraid of losing what they have. I think author is trying to say that dream is purpose of human soul, I think.

When I started reading book, I thought that this book will be a magical story. But instead of wizards casting their magic skills, this book was more about understanding the world around the main character. This book is more like an autobiography of a shepherd, instead of a magical adventure story. A better title for this book might be “The dreamer,” because this book talks more about dream than magic. By only looking at the title “Alchemist,” lots of people will think about a magic, or science. But in my opinion, this book is more about the dream of people. And this book makes me to think what is the dream, and what kind of people achceve, fail, or give up their dream.

I read the part where Santiago leaves his home land and head to Egypt. I was very impressed by his action. Giving up what he had and leaving the home land for a dream, which might be a fake dream is very challenging decision to make. It requires strong faith in his destiny.
I predict that, and hope that, he will achieve the hidden treasure in Egypt. He has very strong mind, and from this fact I can say that he will eventually achieve the hidden treasure which will be very meaningful. I’m enjoying reading this book.

In my opinion, the most important word of this book is "dream" because it talks about dream and futures. Everyone in the world has dream of having something like desire. As reading this book, I realized the deep meaning about the dream. I learned that dream can be big or small but even the small dream is very meaningful. I really liked how the author described about dream and how he uses in the story, I think this book is very meaningful

I was reading the part of book where the King of Salem came to Santiago and tells about how all the dream is about. And this book made me feel worry and think about my future. I am a sophomore who will have to choose my career. After reading this part of book, I started wondering what I really want to do and what I have to do in order to achieve that goal. I became more concerned about my future after reading this. I don’t want to be like a baker in the story who had dream but couldn’t succeed to it. I want to be a person who I want to be.
